Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Feb 14/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY Flood warnings are current for the Lower Warrego, Paroo and Barcoo Rivers. STATE FORECAST for Saturday Fine in eastern districts apart from a few showers on the north tropical coast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms in the northern tropics and the northwest west of the state more isolated over the southern interior. Moderate southeast winds along the east coast, becoming warm north to northeast over the interior. EXTENDED OUTLOOK The high will move east across the Tasman Sea over the weekend then weaken east of New Zealand. The high will extend a ridge along the east coast bringing SE winds and a few showers along the north tropical coast however winds will gradually ease from the south on Sunday as the high moves away. A weak trough lies near the southwest of the state with moist unstable air to the east generating a band of shower sand thunderstorms. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are also expected to continue in the tropics. The next trough will move over NSW on Sunday and into southern border parts early in the week along with some showers and thunderstorms.
