Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 14/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Pattern
A low pressure trough from South Australia over eastern Victoria will develop
during Saturday before deepening and moving further eastwards during Sunday. A
cold front will move across Tasmania Sunday night then a high pressure system
will develop well south of the Bight on Monday and move slowly eastwards.  
Victoria
Saturday:  Local morning fog in the south. Isolated thunderstorms in the far
east during the afternoon and evening. Smoke haze in the east. Cloud increasing
over western districts during the afternoon with patchy rain to follow. A warm
to hot day inland with light wind, but milder near the coast with fresh
afternoon seabreezes. 
Fire Danger: High to very high in the north. Moderate to high in the south.
UV Index: 12 [extreme] decreasing 8 [high] under cloud
Sunday:    Areas of rain and thunderstorms contracting eastward. Showers to
follow, mainly in the south. Becoming cooler with a freshening wind.
Monday:    Early rain in the far east. Showers in the south becoming isolated.
Cool to mild.
Tuesday:   Fine in the north. Isolated showers and drizzle in the south mainly
coastal. Mild to warm.

Saturday
Fine apart from early morning fog patches. A mostly sunny day with light wind
tending southerly and freshening during the afternoon.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Saturday:  Southeasterly wind easing to around 10 knots by morning then
seabreezes of 15 to 20 knots developing Saturday afternoon and evening. Waves
around half a metre increasing to around 1 metre during the afternoon and
evening.
Sunday:    Southeasterly wind to 15 knots shifting southerly at 20 to 25 knots
late in the day. 
Monday:    Southerly wind 20 to 25 knots later easing to 15 to 20 knots.
Tuesday:   East to southeast wind around 15 knots, locally 20 knots during the
afternoon and evening. 
Headline Melbourne: Fine.
