Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 6/09 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EDT Saturday 10 January 2009.
Warning Summary at issue time
Fire weather warning for Northern Country, Wimmera, Mallee, North Central and
Northeast forecast districts.
Strong wind warning for Victorian waters between Cape Schanck and Mallacoota.
Strong wind warning is current for Port Phillip.
Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by
telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A cold front will move across Tasmania overnight. A high pressure system will
strengthen over the Bight on Wednesday, gradually approach Bass Strait later
Thursday then move to the east of Tasmania on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Fine apart light drizzle developing about the western and central coasts late
this evening. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds. Fresh inshore
seabreezes near the coast, easing later.
Forecast for Wednesday
Fine in the north. Early drizzle patches then isolated showers extending
throughout southern and mountain districts. Hot at first in the north, milder
southwesterly winds extending throughout.
Maximum Fire Danger: Very high to Extreme in the north.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers on and south of the ranges contracting to East Gippsland by
the evening then clearing. Fine, warm and mostly sunny in the north. Cool to
mild and partly cloudy in the south. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly
winds.
Forecast for Friday
A fine and generally sunny day with light to moderate south to southwesterly
winds. Cool to mild in the south, grading to warm in the north.
Forecast for Saturday
Fine. Cloud increasing across southern and mountain areas. Light to moderate
southerly winds, with fresh afternoon seabreezes near the coast.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Wednesday.
