Beer Market Shrinks Further in JapanTOKYO - Feb 13/03 - SNS -- Combined shipments of beer and the low alcohol substitute, happoshu, suffered a 4% decline in shipments during January, with beer continuing to lose market share, while sales of the low-malt substitute continue increasing. Data available from Asahi Breweries Ltd., Kirin Brewery Co., Sapporo Breweries Ltd., Suntory Ltd. and Orion Breweries Ltd reveal total shipments of beer and happoshu reached 346,130 kiloliters in January, down 4% from year earlier levels.
