Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 24/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

for the period until midnight EDT Sunday 28 December 2008.
Warning Summary at issue time

Details of warnings are available on the Bureau's website www.bom.gov.au, by
telephone 1300-659-217* or through some TV and radio broadcasts.
Weather Situation
A weak ridge of high pressure is over Victoria. A low pressure trough will
extend from central Australia towards Victoria on Friday, then will move across
the State on Saturday. A cold front will then cross southern Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of Thursday
Fine apart from local early morning fog in the south and possible afternoon
thunderstorms about the far eastern ranges. A mild to warm and generally sunny
day, although high cloud extending from the west during the afternoon.
Generally light wind inland and sea breezes developing along the coast during
the afternoon.
Maximum Fire Danger: High to Very High north of the ranges.
Forecast for Friday
Local early morning fog in the south. Isolated showers near the coast. Possible
afternoon thunderstorms developing over the ranges. Warm to hot inland with
northerly winds. Milder seabreezes developing along the coast during the
afternoon.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers. The chance of isolated thunderstorms in the north and east.
Moderate northerly winds shifting southwesterly in the west. Generally warm.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers on and south of the ranges, mainly over the southwest.
Generally moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds, shifting west to
southwesterly from the west.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.
