Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 11/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Pattern
A weak low pressure trough will persist over eastern Victoria for the rest of
this week. The northern tip of a cold will cross Bass Strait tonight. A high
pressure system will then develop southwest of Victoria on Thursday before
moving to the east of Tasmania on Friday and strengthening over the Tasman Sea
on Saturday.

Wednesday: Fine apart from patchy rain in the far northwest late in the day and
possible thunderstorms in the far east this afternoon and evening. A warm to hot
and mostly sunny day although milder seabreezes developing along the coast.
Light wind inland tending moderate southerly over western and central districts
late in the day.
Fire Danger:    Generally high to very high. 
UV Index: 11 [extreme] decreasing 8 [very high] under cloud
Thursday:  Fine apart from local morning drizzle in the south and early patchy
rain in the far northwest. A warm and mainly sunny in the north but mild and
partly cloudy in the south. Light to moderate southerly wind.
Friday:    Fine apart from early fogs in the south and isolated thunderstorms in
the east. Warm to hot.
Saturday:  Fine apart from early fogs in Gippsland and isolated thunderstorms in
the east. Warm to hot.

Wednesday
Fine. A sunny day with light wind tending moderate southerly this afternoon.

Morning drizzle then fine and becoming sunny with a moderate to fresh southerly
wind.    Min 15    Max 23

Trend for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
Cool change developing with showers, then becoming fine and mild later in the
period.
Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Wednesday: Variable wind of 5 to 10 knots tending southerly this afternoon and
increasing to around 15 knots.  Waves below half a metre, rising to 1 metre
during the afternoon and evening.
Thursday:  Southerly winds of 10 to 15 knots freshening to 15 to 20 knots with
seabreezes in the afternoon and evening. Waves up to 1 metre during the
afternoon.
Friday:    Southeast to easterly winds around 10 knots then afternoon and
evening seabreezes to 20 knots.
Saturday:  Northeasterly winds of 10 to 15 knots and afternoon seabreezes to 15
knots.
Headline Melbourne: Fine.
