LITTLE ROCK - Dec 15/08 - SNS -- The latest weekly rice market summary for the United States was released by the USDA today.

   Domestic shipment: Offers, fob mills, milled rice, spot prices, dollars
per cwt, bagged. (All milled rice grade No 2 not to exceed 4 percent brokens,
except California grade No 1. All second heads grade No 4 or better, second
head and brewers are bulk.)

                             Domestic Situation

   Domestic milled rice price quotes were uneven in south and steady in
California this week. By-products were steady to higher in the south and steady
to lower in California.

   In the south, long grain rice price quotes were steady to 1.00 lower, quoted
mostly at 30.50-32.50; medium grain prices were steady to 1.50 higher, quoted
mostly at 45.00-46.50; parboiled quotes were steady to 1.00 lower, quoted mostly
at 33.50-36.00; second heads were steady to 2.00 lower, quoted mostly at 27.00;
brewers were steady to 3.00 lower, quoted mostly at 25.00-26.00. Rice by-
products: Market remains slow. Offers for rice bran were mostly steady to 15.00
higher; millfeed was steady; hulls were steady.

   In California, medium grain milled rice prices were steady, quoted mostly at
45.00-47.50; short grain prices were steady; second heads were steady, quoted
mostly at 35.00-37.00; brewers were steady, quoted mostly at 26.00-28.00. Rice
bran was mostly 40.00 lower; rice hulls were 3.00 lower.
