Edible Beans Ignore USDA Report

VANCOUVER - Dec 12/08 -SNS -- International dry edible bean markets were unaffected by the latest USDA crop production estimates even though they boosted the size of this year's harvest 2% to 1.166 million metric tons (MT).

The U.S. grower index finished the week down 29 points at 1015, versus 989 at this time last year. The grower share of the weighted average dealer price for beans now stands at 79.4%, down 2.3 points from last week and compared to 79.3% at this time last year.

The U.S. spot market index for dry edible bean finished the week at 1144, unchanged from the previous week and compared to 1064 at this time last year.
