Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 12/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
Severe Weather Warning for the Central Tablelands, Central West Slopes and
Plains, North West Slopes and Plains, Northern Tablelands and Hunter. Severe
Thunderstorm Warning for the Upper Western and North West Plains. Gale Warning
for coastal waters south of Seal Rocks. Strong Wind Warning for coastal waters
north of Seal Rocks and for Pittwater, Port Jackson and Botany Bay. Sheep
Graziers Warning for the Southern and Central Tablelands, ACT, South West and
Central West Slopes, Riverina, Hunter, Illawarra and South Coast. Ocean Wind
Warning. Refer to www.bom.gov.au for the latest warning information.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A low over South Australia will move eastwards and produce widespread rain and
moderate to heavy falls in most NSW districts. Rain will contract to the
northeast early on Saturday before contracting to the far northeast on Saturday
night as the trough associated with the low moves east. Some showers will remain
over the southern half of the ranges and inland as an upper disturbance moves
through on Saturday and Sunday. The low should move over western Victoria Friday
night and Bass Strait on Saturday, then out into the Tasman Sea on Sunday. The
low will also cause strong winds over the weekend over much of the state.
Forecast for Saturday
Rain, moderate to heavy at times, contracting to the northeast corner during the
day, but showers persisting on the ranges and western slopes  over the southern
half. Northwest to southwest winds, fresh to strong and gusty in many districts.
Forecast for Sunday
Scattered showers on the ranges and slopes, chiefly over the southern half. Rain
in the far southeast. Fine for the remainder. Fresh to strong southwest winds.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers over the far southeast corner, clearing. Fine elsewhere.
Moderating southwest to southeast winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
Fine. Light winds.
