Weekly Canadian Crush RisesWINNIPEG - Dec 4/08 -- STAT -- The Canadian Oilseed Processors Association (COPA) reports weekly crush in that country totalled 87,130 metric tons (MT) of canola and 26,262 of soybeans during the week ending December 3. The numbers, as reported to the association by member firms, show canola crush rose 10.8%, after falling the previous week. Soybean crush dropped 3.9%, partly offsetting the previous week's increase. Crush so far during the 2008-09 marketing year totals 1,394,929 MT of canola, up about 36,000 MT from the 1,358,086 MT crushed by the same time last season. Soybeans crush so far totals 430,295 MT, down about 85,000 MT from the 515,704 MT crushed during the same period last season. Crush capacity utilization for the week was 98.2% for canola and 93.5% so far this season. Soybean crush capacity utilization was 58.6% for the week and 57.1% so far this season.
