Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 4/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
Strong Wind Warning for coastal waters south of Ulladulla. Minor Flood Warning
for the Namoi River. Refer to www.bom.gov.au for the latest warning information.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A high is moving over the southern Tasman Sea and a trough lies to the west of
the state. The approaching trough, in combination with the high further east,
will draw down warmer and more humid air from the north and create unsettled
conditions for many districts heading into the weekend. The trough will remain
over the state until Sunday when a front will push up from the Bight and begin
to clear conditions from the west. By Monday any shower activity will be focused
over the northeast and central coastal regions. Although most parts of the state
will experience some precipitation over the next few days, significant totals
are expected to be confined to the northeast.
Forecast for Friday
Patchy rain or isolated showers in the west, contracting east and mostly
clearing by the afternoon. Isolated showers in the east, with thunderstorms in
the northeast. Northeast to northwest winds in the east, and westerly winds
extending over the inland.
Fire danger: Very High in the Riverina
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers or rain periods developing in the north, tending scattered
nearer the Queensland border. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast and
the northwest. Mostly fine in the south, with just the chance of isolated
showers. Northwest to northeast winds turning southwest to southeast in most
areas.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers over the western inland, clearing. Showers elsewhere with
thunderstorms over the northeast of the state extending to the central ranges. A
southeast to southwest change extending throughout.
Forecast for Monday
Scattered showers on and east of the ranges in the northeast with the showers
becoming more isolated further south. Generally light winds inland, tending
southeast to northeast on the coast.
