Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Dec 1/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY Nil STATE FORECAST for Monday night and Tuesday Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the far northern and north-east tropics and along the central coast. Fine elsewhere. Winds mostly light to moderate SE to NE. A high to very high fire danger about the Burnett and Wide Bay district. EXTENDED OUTLOOK The high cell over the Tasman Sea will continue move eastwards during the week. The inland trough will drift westwards and merge with a front over NSW on Tuesday. Humidity levels will remain relatively high along the southern and central coast on Tuesday causing isolated afternoon showers and storms north of about St Lawrence to Yeppoon. This activity will retreat northwards to about Cardwell during Wednesday. The merged trough and frontal system will move eastwards across the southern interior on Tuesday and Wednesday and in conjunction with some upper level instability will trigger isolated showers and storms over the south-east corner of the state on Wednesday. Showers and storms will continue in this area til late in the week. Preceding this trough system, winds will shift to the NW and result in very hot conditions developing over the south-east from Wednesday onwards. A new cloud and rain band with storms will possibly enter the far south-west of the state late in the week and will be --- STAT News Service
