Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 9/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
Nil.
Weather Pattern
A low pressure trough will persist over eastern Victoria until the middle of the
week. A high pressure ridge south of Victoria will weaken on Wednesday as a cold
front moves across Tasmania. A high pressure system will then develop southwest
of Victoria on Thursday before moving to the east of the State on Friday.
Victoria
Monday:    Fine apart from isolated thunderstorms in the far east this afternoon
and evening. Warm and sunny in the north. Mild in the south with cloud mostly
contracting to Gippsland this afternoon. Moderate to locally fresh south to
southeast winds.
Fire danger: Moderate to high in the south, but high to very high in the north.
UV Index: 11 [extreme] decreasing 8 [very high]
Tuesday:   Fine apart from morning coastal drizzle and isolated afternoon
thunderstorms in the far east. Warm in the north, milder over southern
districts.
Wednesday: Morning coastal drizzle and fog. Isolated thunderstorms in the east.
Warm to hot. 
Thursday:  Morning coastal drizzle and fog. Isolated thunderstorms in the east.
Warm to hot.
Forecast for Melbourne
Monday
Fine and becoming sunny this afternoon. Light to moderate southerly wind and
locally fresh bayside sea breezes.

Local early drizzle then fine and becoming sunny. Light wind during the morning

Monday:    Southerly wind of 10 to 15 knots, reaching 20 knots this afternoon
and evening with sea breezes. Waves around 1 metre, reaching 1.5 metres in the
north.
Tuesday:   South to southeasterly wind of 10 to 15 knots, increasing to 20 knots
late afternoon and evening.
Wednesday: Southeasterly wind to 10 knots. Afternoon sea breezes to 20 knots.
Thursday:  Southerly wind 10 to 15 knots. Afternoon sea breezes to 20 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Fine.  
Headline Victoria:  Fine apart from afternoon thunderstorms in the far east.
