MELBOURNE - Feb 9/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

A low pressure trough will persist over eastern Victoria until at least the end
of the week. A high pressure ridge will remain over waters south of Victoria.

Monday:    Fine except for morning coastal drizzle and isolated afternoon and
evening thunderstorms in the far east. Mild to warm with light to moderate
southwest to southeast winds.
Fire danger: Moderate to high in the south, but high to very high in the north.
UV Index: 11 [extreme] decreasing 8 [very high]
Tuesday:   Morning coastal drizzle. Isolated thunderstorms in the east. Mild to
warm.
Wednesday: Morning coastal drizzle and fog. Isolated thunderstorms in the east.
