Weekly Canadian Crush Drops

WINNIPEG - Nov 28/08 -- STAT -- The Canadian Oilseed Processors Association (COPA) reports weekly crush in that country totalled 78,630 metric tons (MT) of canola and 27,327 of soybeans during the week ending November 26.

The numbers, as reported to the association by member firms, show canola crush fell 5.3%, ending two weeks of rising activity. Soybean crush rose 12%, partly offsetting the previous week's decline.

Crush so far during the 2008-09 marketing year totals 1,307,799 MT of canola, up about 33,000 MT from the 1,274,391 MT crushed by the same time last season. Soybeans crush so far totals 404,033 MT, down about 86,000 MT from the 490,640 MT crushed during the same period last season.

Crush capacity utilization for the week was 88.6% for canola and 92.8% so far this season. Soybean crush capacity utilization was 61% for the week and 56.8% so far this season.
