and ProcessinWASHINGTON - Nov 26/08 - SNS -- Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Up 1% from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 3.16 Billion Pounds Peanut stocks commercial storage on October 31, 2008 came in at 3.16 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 2.75 billion pounds a year ago, according to the latest USDA update. This total includes 2.63 billion pounds of actual farmer stock. Shelled peanuts on hand totalled 484 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totalled 38.4 million pounds. Shelled peanut stocks totalled 364 million pounds of which 339 million pounds were edible grades and 25.0 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 69.5 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 241 million pounds of Runners, and 29.0 million pounds of Spanish.
