Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Feb 7/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY Flood warnings for the Lower Dawson, Fitzroy and Burnett Rivers. STATE FORECAST for the rest of Saturday and Sunday Fine in the far southwest. Scattered to showers and thunderstorms over the tropics and most of the interior, with some areas of rain as well. Some heavy falls over the central and southern inland. Isolated showers in the southeast. Light to moderate SE to NE winds. EXTENDED OUTLOOK The current moist easterly airflow over Queensland will persist into next week. Unstable conditions will persist over the tropics for the next few days with scattered to isolated shower and thunderstorm activity. An upper trough which is located over far western Queensland will move slowly eastwards and weaken over the next few days. As this happens most of the weather in central and southern Queensland will contract to eastern districts during Monday and Tuesday. The southeast, which has experienced only a few showers since Thursday, should see increasing showers on Monday, with some thunderstorms inland. Some useful falls are likely, but not widespread. By Wednesday the upper trough will be out to see and the weather should clear accordingly.
