Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Nov 12/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
Strong Wind Warning for coastal waters south of Seal Rocks. A Fire Weather
Warning for Riverina and Lower Western for Thursday. Refer to Fire Weather
Warning for the latest Rural Fire Service Total Fire Ban information. Refer to
www.bom.gov.au for the latest warning information.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A high is over the southern Tasman Sea and a trough of low pressure west of
Adelaide is moving slowly east. The trough should move through Bass Strait later
today, before reaching the south coast on Friday. It should then move northeast
on Saturday, reaching the Mid North Coast in the afternoon then through the
remainder of the northeast on Sunday. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are
expected ahead of and near the trough on Friday and Saturday before contracting
to the northeast on Sunday, although isolated showers should continue along the
coast after the trough has passed through. An onshore airstream over the
northeast should also bring some showers there over the next couple of days.
Forecast for Thursday
Isolated showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges tending scattered in the
far north with the chance of local thunder. Chance of isolated late showers and
thunderstorms in the far southwest. Fine elsewhere, although some high cloud
developing. Hot in the west. East to southeast in the northeast. Northwest to
northeast winds in the remainder, strengthening along the coast during the day.
Fire danger: Very High to Extreme in Riverina and Lower Western. Very High in
Central West Plains.
Forecast for Friday
Fine in the northeast apart from isolated coastal showers in the morning.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, mostly in the afternoon and
evening. Northwest to northeast winds ahead a cooler south to southwest change
in the west and southeast.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers, clearing from the southern inland during the day. Isolated
thunderstorms in the northeast. South to southwest change extending into the far
northeast.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers  and thunderstorms in the north, increasing in the afternoon
about the Northern Tablelands. Isolated showers about the remaining coast and
east ranges, and fine over the remainder. South to southeast winds, fresh about
much of the coast.
