Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 6/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Lakes
Entrance.
Weather Pattern
A low pressure trough will persist over eastern Victoria during the next few
days. A weak cold front will move across Tasmania later Friday then a ridge of
high pressure will develop south of Victoria during the weekend. 
Victoria
Friday:    Drizzle patches near the west coast overnight and in the morning
developing over most southern areas later in the day and at night. Morning fog
patches in the south. Isolated showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon
and evening about the eastern ranges. A generally warm and sunny day in the
north but milder in the south. Southwest to southerly wind gradually extending
to most areas and becoming locally fresh in the west.
Fire Danger:      High to very high in the north. Moderate to high in the south.
UV Index: 11 [extreme] decreasing 5 [moderate]
Saturday:  Isolated coastal drizzle clearing. Isolated thunderstorms in the
east. Mild to warm. 
Sunday:    Morning coastal drizzle. Isolated thunderstorms about the east. Mild
to warm.
Monday:    Morning coastal drizzle. Isolated thunderstorms about the east. Mild
to warm.

Friday
Morning fog patches then a mostly fine day with a little drizzle to follow later
in the day or at night. Partly cloudy with light wind tending moderate
southerly.

Friday:    West to southwesterly wind of 10 to 15 knots easing to 5 to 10 knots
overnight then tending southwest to southerly at 10 to 15 knots during the
morning before increasing to 15 to 20 knots during the afternoon. Waves around
half a metre, rising to 1 metre during the afternoon. 
Saturday:  South to southeasterly wind of 10 to 15 knots, reaching 20 knots
during the afternoon and evening. 
Sunday:    South to southeasterly wind of 10 to 20 knots.
Monday:    South to southeasterly wind of 10 to 15, reaching 20 knots in the
afternoon.
Headline Melbourne: Mainly fine.  
Headline Victoria:  Morning fog in the south. Isolated showers and thunderstorms
