Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Oct 4/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY Nil. STATE FORECAST for Sunday Isolated showers over the Cape York Peninsula and about the east coast north of Cardwell. Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the Channel Country, southern Warrego district and western Darling Downs during the afternoon and overnight. Generally moderate SE to NE winds, tending very warm northerly winds over the interior, ahead of a S'ly change in SW parts tonight. A high to very high fire danger over the Darling Downs, the Granite Belt and the Peninsula districts. EXTENDED OUTLOOK On Monday, the trough will move through the SE coast with a W'ly change. Again hot over the SE region with some showers and thunderstorms with the change in the afternoon and evening. Isolated afternoon showers will extend into the central and northwest districts ahead of the change. Showers will ease and tend more isolated across the far northern tropics and south along the central coast. Some patchy, light rain across southern Queensland will clear from the southwest as the cloud and rain contracts eastwards. By Tuesday, the trough will extend from northwest Queensland to the Capricornia along with isolated showers about the Central Highlands and Coalfields. Patchy, light rain clearing early from the southeast. Fine and cooler S to SW winds will extend through southern and western Queensland behind the change. Isolated --- STAT News Service
