Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 2/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Lakes
Entrance.
Weather Pattern
A high pressure system east of Bass Strait will move slowly eastwards across the
Tasman Sea over the next three days. A low pressure trough will develop west of
Victoria on Tuesday then move slowly eastwards over the State during Wednesday
and Thursday.
Victoria
Monday:    Fine apart from early morning fog patches in the south. Areas of
smoke, particularly in central and eastern regions. A generally warm to hot and
mostly sunny day with light to moderate east to northeasterly wind, but milder
near the coast with fresh afternoon seabreezes.
Fire Danger: High to very high. 
UV Index: 13 [extreme] decreasing to 8 [very high] under cloud.
Tuesday:   Generally dry. Very warm to hot.
Wednesday: Mainly fine and very warm to hot. Milder change in the southwest with
isolated thundery showers.
Thursday:  Warm to hot in north and east with local showers and thunderstorms.
Milder in southwest with morning drizzle.
Forecast for Melbourne
Monday
Dry with smoke haze. A mainly sunny day. Light to moderate northeasterly wind
and afternoon bayside seabreezes.

Mainly fine and warm.
Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Monday:    East to northeasterly wind over southern waters at 10 to 15 knots and
northerlies to 10 knots over northern Port Phillip this morning.  Seabreezes to
15 to 20 knots developing this afternoon. Waves around half a metre rising to 1
metre in the afternoon. 
Tuesday:   Northeast to northerly winds 10 to 15 knots, locally reaching 20
knots in the morning and weak late seabreezes below 15 knots.
Wednesday: Northerly winds of 15 to 20 knots shifting south to southeasterly at
around 15 knots later.
Thursday:  Southeasterly winds of 10 to 15 knots with local afternoon seabreezes
to around 20 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Dry. Smoke haze.  
Headline Victoria:  Dry. Warm to hot day inland. Smoke, mainly in east. Coastal
