Uncertainty in Edible BeansVANCOUVER - Oct 3/08 - SNS -- The world's dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on an uncertain note in the face of the resumption of farm protests in Argentina. This will again disrupt exports as farmers protest export taxes on grains and oilseeds, high petrol prices, and weakening field crop values. The U.S. grower index finished the week plunged 92 points to 1246, versus 1001 at this time last year. The grower share of the weighted average dealer price for beans now stands at 78.4%, down 3.4 points from last week and down 1.9 points from this time last year. The U.S. spot market index for dry edible bean finished the week at 1421, down 46 points from the previous week and compared to 1110 at this time last year.
