Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 2/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Lakes
Entrance.
Weather Pattern
A high pressure system south of Victoria will move slowly eastwards and
consolidate over the Tasman Sea during Monday and Tuesday. A low pressure trough
will develop west of Victoria on Tuesday then move slowly eastwards over the
State during Wednesday and Thursday.
Victoria
Tonight and Monday: Fine apart from early morning fog patches in the south.
Areas of smoke, particularly in central and eastern regions. A generally warm to
hot and mostly sunny day with light to moderate east to northeasterly wind, but
milder near the coast with fresh afternoon seabreezes.
Fire Danger: High to very high. 
UV Index: 13 [extreme] decreasing to 8 [very high] under cloud.
Tuesday:   Generally dry. Very warm to hot.
Wednesday: Generally fine and very warm to hot. Becoming milder in the
southwest.
Thursday:  Warm to hot. Isolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the east.

Tonight and Monday
Fine although hazy due to smoke. A mainly sunny day. Moderate to fresh south to
southeasterly wind easing and tending northeasterly overnight. Fresh afternoon
and evening seabreezes.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Tonight and Monday: South to southeasterly wind of 15 to 20 knots tending
northeasterly at 10 to 15 knots overnight, but reaching 20 knots in the south at
first. Wind tending east to southeasterly during the afternoon with seabreezes
to around 20 knots. Waves mostly near 1 metre, but locally reaching 1.5 metres
tonight and at first in the south on Monday. 
Tuesday:   Northeast to northerly winds 10 to 15 knots and local sea breezes to
around 15 knots later.
Wednesday: Northerly winds of 15 to 20 knots shifting south to southeasterly at
around 15 knots later.
Thursday:  Southeasterly winds of 10 to 15 knots with local afternoon seabreezes
to around 20 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Fine.
