Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 1/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning has been is current for Port Phillip and Western Port for
later today.
Weather Pattern
A high pressure system just southwest of Victoria will move across Tasmania
during Sunday then consolidate over the south Tasman Sea on Monday and Tuesday.
A low pressure trough will develop west of Victoria on Tuesday then move over
the State on Wednesday.

Sunday:    Dry. Areas of smoke in the east, locally moving to central regions. 
A mild to warm and mostly sunny day with mainly moderate southeast to easterly
wind. Fresh afternoon and evening seabreezes.
Fire Danger: Generally high, reaching very high in the north.
UV Index: 13 [extreme] decreasing to 8 [very high] under cloud.
Monday:    Fine. Warm to hot and sunny day. Milder afternoon coastal seabreezes.
Tuesday:   Generally dry. Very warm to hot.
Wednesday: Generally fine and very warm to hot. Becoming milder in the
southwest.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Sunday:    Southeasterly wind at 10 to 15 knots,  increasing to 15 to 20 knots
during the afternoon and  reaching 25 knots late in the afternoon and evening.
Waves below 1 metre, rising 1 to 1.5 metres late in the day. A strong wind
warning is current.
Monday:    East to northeasterly winds of 10 to 15 knots, reaching 20 knots in
the south at first, with afternoon seabreezes to around 15 knots.
Tuesday:   Northeast to northerly winds 10 to 15 knots and local sea breezes to
around 15 knots later.
Wednesday: Northerly winds of 15 to 20 knots shifting south to southeasterly at
around 15 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Fine.
