Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 1/03 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning has been issued for Port Phillip and Western Port for
later Sunday.
Weather Pattern
A high pressure system west of Victoria will move to the east of the State
during Sunday then consolidate over the Tasman Sea on Monday and Tuesday. A low
pressure trough will develop west of Victoria on Tuesday then move over the
State on Wednesday.
Victoria
Tonight and Sunday: Fine apart from early fog in the south. Areas of smoke in
the east. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day with light to moderate southeast
to northeasterly wind. Fresh afternoon and evening seabreezes.
Fire Danger: Generally high, reaching very high in the north.
UV Index: 13 [extreme] decreasing to 8 [very high] under cloud.
Monday:    Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the eastern ranges.
Generally warm to hot.
Tuesday:   Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the east. Generally very warm
to hot.
Wednesday: Generally fine and very warm to hot. Becoming milder in the
southwest.

Fine. A mainly sunny day with light to moderate east to southeasterly wind and
fresh afternoon and evening seabreezes.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Tonight and Sunday: South to southwesterly winds of 15 to 20 knots easing to 10
to 15 knots overnight and tending southeasterly. Southeasterly wind increasing
to 15 to 20 knots during Sunday before reaching 25 knots later in the afternoon
and evening. Waves to around 1 metre decreasing to half a metre overnight before
rising 1 to 1.5 metres later Sunday. A strong wind warning is current.
Monday:    East to northeasterly winds of 10 to 15 knots, reaching 20 knots in
the south at first, with afternoon seabreezes to around 15 knots.
Tuesday:   Northeast to northerly winds 10 to 15 knots and local sea breezes to
around 15 knots later.
Wednesday: Northerly winds of 15 to 20 knots shifting south to southeasterly at
around 15 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Fine.
Headline Victoria:  Early fog patches in the south, otherwise fine. Mild to
