Australia -- New South Wales Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Oct 3/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warning Summary: Strong wind warning for coastal waters between Yamba and Montague Island. Refer to Warnings at www.bom.gov.au for the latest information. Current Weather Situation and Future Developments: A high pressure ridge over northeastern New South Wales is weakening as a high over the Tasman Sea moves slowly east-southeast. During Saturday and Sunday a low pressure trough will deepen and move through the state bringing showers and thunderstorms to most of the districts. On Monday a cold front will move through with cooler and drier air to follow. Forecast for Saturday Fine on the far north coast and ranges and clearing showers in the far southwest. Showers and thunderstorms over the remainder. Hot and fresh northwest winds ahead of a cooler southerly change in the west and southeast. Forecast for Sunday Fine on the far north coast. Showers and thunderstorms over the northeastern half of the state contracting northeast. Northwest to northeast in the northeast and west to southwest elsewhere. Forecast for Monday Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Isolated showers in the south, with snow showers developing on the higher Alps later. Fine elsewhere.
