Mixed Week for Edible PeasVANCOUVER - Sep 26/08 - SNS -- Field peas markets registered a mixed performance during the past week, with Canadian markets generally easier against the near completion of this year's harvest and U.S. markets supported by government demand. The USDA issued a new PL-480 food aid tender during the week, seeking offers of 4,800 metric tons (MT) of split yellow peas and 8,050 MT of whole and split green peas. This lifted actual and prospective yellow pea purchases by the USDA to 31,120 MT for shipment from origin between September and November, versus 28,970 last year. Green pea tender activity now totals 17,730 MT, up from 9,150 MT during the same three-month period last year. Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
