Lentils Mixed to EasierVANCOUVER - Sep 19/08 - SNS -- International lentil markets finished the week's trading on a generally easier note, with commercial trading levels for red lentils continuing to lose value, while greens registered a mixed performance. World supplies of red lentils remain low relative to prospective demand, but they have switched from establishing new weekly highs to merely trading 70% above their recent five-year average trading levels. Inter-dealer markets in Canada have dropped U.S. $485 per metric ton (MT) from their July highs, while export markets have lost roughly $650 MT. Unfortunately, a good volume of business is to destinations where buyers are less understanding about such changes in value and exporters are reporting problems with defaults.
