India's agriculture department says land in rice now stands at 37.35 million hectares, up 3.2% from the 36.18 million sown by this time last year. Area in oilseeds is also higher, rising 2.5% from 17.46 to 17.9 million hectares. On the other hand, land in coarse grains is down 6.4% at 19.78 million hectares.
