Alaron Softs CommentCHICAGO - Aug 7/08 - SNS -- Following is the orange juice, cotton and coffee comment from Alaron Trading Corp. In the last couple of sessions, OJ prices have rebounded from the contract low of 96.10 basis September. Prices have dropped over 3000 points since late July. The market has been pressured by long liquidation and the lack of any threatening weather to the Florida citrus-growing regions. So far, it has been a quiet hurricane season, however, activity can pick up in August/September. Traders will be waiting for private estimates for the next Florida crop, which will be released later this month. Early indications are for next year's crop to be larger than this year's crop. This year's crop is estimated around 168 million boxes. We will get a final estimate on the current crop in next Tuesday's USDA Crop Production Report. The USDA will not be releasing its estimate for the new crop until the October report. The upside could be limited in the near to short term, due to the lack of any threatening weather and if the estimates come out higher. Spread trading will be active in the next couple of weeks ahead of first notice day for the September contract on September 2nd. Support for September is at 97.00. Resistance is at 101.00-101.50.
