U.S. Egg Output Drops SlightlyWASHINGTON - Jul 22/08 - SNS -- U.S, according to the current USDA report on the sector. egg totalled 7.37 billion during June 2008, down a bit from the previous year. Production included 6.27 billion table eggs, and 1.10 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.03 billion were broiler-type and 64 million were egg-type. The total number of layers during June 2008 averaged 339 million, down slightly from last year. June egg production per 100 layers was 2,176 eggs, up slightly from June 2007.
