Birdseeds Mixed, Millet EasierVANCOUVER - Jul 4/08 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets in the United States managed a mixed finish on the week, with sunflower viewing this year's sxeeded area estimates as neutral, while millet markets did not like what they saw. The net result is oil-type and confectionary sunflower markets were unchanged on the week. By contrast, white proso millet markets slipped a quarter cent to U.S. 11.75 per pound for farmers dressed product. Sunflower seeded area is up 5% over last year on solid gains in oil-type area; while millet area in the United States is up 6% at 605,000 acres and some market participants worried delays seeding major grains and oilseeds could have seen more land drift into the commodity.
