Peas Lift U.S. Pulse InventoriesWASHINGTON - Jun 30/08 - SNS -- Combined inventories of field peas, lentils and chickpeas are significantly higher than this time last year because of a surge in the quantity of field peas still on hand as of June 1, according to the USDA. Pulse crops stored in all positions in the United States on June 1, 2008 and the change from June 1, 2007 are: dry edible peas, 2.00 million cwt (100 pound units), up 42%; lentils, 503,000 cwt, down 9%; Austrian winter peas, 46,000 cwt, down 65%; all chickpeas, 298,000 cwt, down 21%; small chickpeas, 67,000 cwt, up 43%; and large chickpeas, 231,000 cwt, down 30%.
