Markets Take Lentil Area in Stride
VANCOUVER - Jun 27/08 - SNS -- Canada's increase in total lentil seeded area did not surprise markets, nor did it have a negative impact on underlying sentiment.
Production gains in Canada and potential increases in red lentil output in Australia are more than offset by green and red lentil production declines in Turkey and Syria.
This has boosted demand for remaining old crop stocks, with the result efforts by numerous growers to clear bins before the coming harvest are offset by commercial demand.
