Folkerson Joins SCDC
SASKATOON - Jun 24/08 - SNS -- The Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission (SCDC) has appointed Catherine Folkersen its new Executive Director effective July 28, 2008.
Since 2005, Folkersen has been manager for the Ministry of Agriculture at the Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre. This organization was involved in food product commercialization and food industry training in Saskatchewan.
The Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission was established in 1991 to represent Saskatchewan’s canola producers. Its mandate is to enhance canola producers’ competitiveness and profitability through research, market development and communication activities. SCDC is directed by a democratically elected producer board. The organization is funded by a producer levy of 0.75 cents per MTcollected at delivery.
