U.S. Egg Output Drops 1 PercentWASHINGTON - Jun 23/08 - SNS -- U.S, judging from today's USDA report on the sector. egg totalled 7.57 billion throughout May 2008, down 1% from the previous year. Production included 6.43 billion table eggs, and 1.15 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.08 billion were broiler-type and 68 million were egg-type. The total number of layers during May 2008 averaged 340 million, down 1% from last year. May egg production per 100 layers was 2,226 eggs, unchanged from May 2007.
