Millet Rises, Canaryseed SteadyVANCOUVER - Jun 20/08 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets registered a mixed performance during the past week. White proso millet growers bids in the United States lifted 25 cents per 100 pounds (cwt) to range up to U.S. $12 for farmers dressed product and inter-dealer markets jumped 50 cents to a nominal $12.75 cwt. Confectionary sunflower markets were mostly unchanged in limited trade for both current and new crop delivery positions. Commenting on the market situation, the U.S. based National Sunflower Association said, "New crop prices for oil and confection sunflowers remain at historically high levels. Competing oil prices for cotton and corn continue to remain at historically high levels and in turn have given support to sunflower oil prices. "It goes without saying that the USDA planted acreage report to be released on June 30 will be of great interest to all commodity markets including sunflower given current market fundamentals. The June acreage report will be the main market driver after its release. The performance of the US dollar against other currencies and weather will obviously continue to be a major market factors as well." Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
