Rainfall events in some of the key lentil producing areas of Saskatchewan has stimulated some grower and processor selling, contributing to lower export asking prices in some markets. However, U.S. government forecasts through June 27 call for below average moisture in lentil growing areas in Saskatchewan and a decline in soil moisture reserves. Some market participants worry that with the crop development lagging recent averages, there is a greater than normal risk of weather problems during the late stages of crop development and during harvest.
