Lentils Firm, Demand ModerateVANCOUVER - Jun 6/08 - SNS -- Lentil markets maintained their firm tone during the past week as moderate demand remained ahead of short term supplies available to processors and exporters. Above normal precipitation is forecast for much of the lentil growing in Canada and North Dakota during the next week, but the U.S.'s National Center for Environmental Prediction does not believe this will prevent soil moisture reserves in that region from declining. A weather market is normal during the growing season, but concerns about the North American situation are given added weight because of drought reduced lentil crops in Turkey and Syria.
