Argentine Closure Helps Edible BeansVANCOUVER - Jun 6/08 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets maintained their firm tone throughout the past week, helped by the effective closure of Argentine export markets because of the ongoing farmers strike. The U.S. spot market index for dry edible bean finished the week at 1335, down five points from the previous week and compared to 950 at this time last year. The grower index finished up two points at 1206, about 37 points below its record high, but up from 876 at this time last year. The grower share of the weighted average dealer price for beans now stands at 80.9%, up 0.5 points from last week and down 1.5 points from this time last year.
