Light Trade in Lentils
VANCOUVER - May 30/08 - SNS -- International lentil markets maintained their firm tone in relatively light, though steady trading interest in both current and new crop shipping positions.
Markets in the United States remained firm even though recent tender activity has been light. Purchases by the USDA for the September through July shipping period is up 6.4% over last season at 57,200 metric tons (MT).
It seems impossible for food aid demand to exceed to the average 77,355 MT bought in 2004-05 and 2005-06.
