Few Changes in Field PeasVANCOUVER - May 24/08 - SNS -- Field pea markets finished the week mostly unchanged in light trade on both spot and new crop markets. Traders attending the CICILS conference were told India will remain a major importer of pulses through the coming year and that the Indian government once again intends to buy around 1.5 million metric tons (MT) of pulses through its state trading companies. This news concerned some traders, who believe it will make commercial traders less keen about expanding imports. However, suggestions that per capita pulse consumption in India is rising as the country becomnes wealthier was viewed as a very positive development.
