Edible Beans Worry About Smaller CropsVANCOUVER - May 24/08 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets were little changed during the past week, though maintaining a firm tone in the face of declining production in key production areas and generally tight near term supply conditions. The U.S. spot market index for dry edible bean finished the week at 1331, unchanged from the previous week and compared to 949 at this time last year. The grower index finished unchanged at 1204, about 39 points below its record high, but up from 876 at this time last year. The grower share of the weighted average dealer price for beans now stands at 80.9%, unchanged from last week and down 1.6 points from this time last year.
