Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - May 16/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY Strong wind warning has been issued for waters south of Sandy Cape and over the southern Gulf waters for overnight Saturday and Sunday. A severe weather is current for SE QLD for Sunday. STATE FORECAST for the rest of Saturday and Sunday A cold front will pass through the state today was stronger SW winds following and dust haze. Ahead of this change isolated showers and thunderstorms will occur over the SE. Isolated showers over eastern districts in general in the afternoon. Cold with strong SW winds over the SE of the state for Sunday with dust haze. Rather bleak over the southern Darling Downs Sunday morning with isolated drizzle or sleet. Cool and dry over the remainder of the state with dust haze over the eastern half. Strong SE winds developing in the southern Gulf Sunday morning. Very isolated showers in the far north in the afternoon. EXTENDED OUTLOOK By Monday, winds have eased over most of the state with a chilly morning in most districts. Extensive early frost over the southern Central Highlands, Maranoa, Darling Downs, SW parts of the Burnett and over the SE coast. Dry and cool over the remainder of the state with very isolated showers in the far north. By Tuesday much the same as a new high moves into S.A., in the wake of the cold front with a ridge of higher pressure over QLD. By Wednesday, the high is now over N.S.W and the dry SW'ly winds over over southern QLD has tended S'ly. Isolated showers now redevelop about the NE tropical and central coats as winds --- STAT News Service
