Australia -- Victoria Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - May 15/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warning Summary Strong wind warnings are current for Victorian coastal waters west of Wilsons Promontory and also for Port Phillip and Western Port. Current Weather Situation and Future Developments A cold front approaching from the west will cross Victoria tonight and Saturday then a low pressure system will develop over the Tasman Sea during Sunday. A high pressure system will develop over South Australia on Monday. Victoria Friday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Local drizzle in the north and about the ranges clearing. Rain and isolated thunderstorms gradually extending from the southwest during the day, reaching central districts tonight. Cool to mild with fresh to strong and gusty northerly winds ahead of a late westerly change extending from the west. UV Index: 1- 2 [Low] Saturday: Scattered showers with isolated hail and thunder tending to rain areas at first in the east. Snow above 1000 metres. Cold with moderate west to northwest winds shifting fresh southwesterly from the west. Sunday: Scattered showers, mainly contracting to the south and east. Cool to cold.
