Australia -- New South Wales Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - May 12/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warning Summary: Nil. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/nsw/ Current Weather Situation and Future Developments: The surface pattern shows a slow-moving high pressure ridge over the southeast of the mainland which will drift slowly into the Tasman Sea by mid-week. However the upper pattern will be dominated by a low associated with an area of cold temperatures. The upper low favours the formation of some showers and thunderstorms and these are forecast over the coast and ranges through to Wednesday with the possibility of a few developing about the northern half of the western slopes during the afternoons. A trough will replace the high over New South Wales at the end of the week, bringing showers and thunderstorms more generally to the state. Forecast for Monday evening Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the central and northern coast, ranges and western slopes. Isolated showers or drizzle over the southeast. Fine in the western half. Chiefly light winds. Forecast for Tuesday Early fogs about the ranges, coast and southeastern inland. Isolated showers and thunderstorms on the coast, ranges and western slopes, mostly in central and northern parts. Fine in the western half. Light variable winds inland; northeast to southeast winds along the coast. Forecast for Wednesday Isolated showers continuing about parts of the coast and east ranges, extending to the northern inland in the afternoon. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the northern inland. Fine remainder. Light winds tending north to northeast. Forecast for Thursday Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the inland extending to the ranges later in the day or evening. Fine about coastal parts. Northeast to northwest winds. Forecast for Friday Isolated showers about the northern coast, ranges and slopes. Showers more likely in the south, with thunderstorms possible and tending to rain about the southeastern inland later in the day. Northwest winds over the inland, freshening in the west.
