Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - May 11/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY No warnings. STATE FORECAST for Monday Showers about the east coast and spreading over the eastern half of the state during the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms developing over the SE interior this afternoon. Fine elsewhere. Moderate to fresh S/SE winds. EXTENDED OUTLOOK By Tuesday, showers developing further west into the Central West and the Warrego districts. Isolated showers and thunderstorms continuing over the SE interior. By Wednesday, afternoon showers now developing further into the Channel Country with a fine area over the Central Highlands. Showers over the southern interior continuing into the night and Thursday morning as patchy rain. A new trough will sweep across western QLD from the west on Thursday, concentrating shower activity over the southern interior. This will become a new rain band overnight over the Maranoa and Darling Downs with local thunder. Fine over the eastern interior, Afternoon showers over the SE and tropical interior. By Friday, the rainband has weakened and cleared the SE while the surface trough enters the Darling Downs with SW winds. Showers and thunderstorms will develop with the trough passage.
