Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 10/08 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
Nil. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site
http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/nsw/
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
The surface pattern shows a slow moving high pressure ridge over the southeast
of the mainland which will drift slowly into the Tasman Sea by midweek, whilst
the upper pattern will be dominated by a low associated with an area of cold
temperatures. Normally such an upper low would be responsible for a significant
amount of rain and thunderstorms however the presence of a surface high appears
likely to restrict the amount of activity in this sequence. Isolated showers are
presently forecast over the coast and ranges though to Wednesday with the
possibility of a few developing about the northern half of the western slopes
during the afternoons. During this time cloud will build over Queensland and a
change due later Thursday into Friday has an increasing likelihood of producing
a band of rain over inland NSW. Early indications suggest an interesting weather
sequence may unfold next weekend.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers or drizzle along the coast and adjacent ranges. Fine remainder.
Light to moderate, chiefly south to southeast, winds.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers or drizzle along the coast and adjacent ranges, mostly in the
north. Fine remainder. Chiefly light winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
Isolated showers on the coast and ranges, mainly in the north. Fine remainder.
Light variable winds inland; northeast to southeast winds along the coast.
Forecast for Wednesday
Isolated showers continuing about parts of the coast, extending inland to east
of about Moree to Goulburn during the afternoon. Fine inland though some cloud
developing from the north. Light winds tending north to northeast.
