Closing Boxed Beef Market ActivityDES MOINES - May 9/08 - SNS -- End of day market prices and volumes for the U.S. domestic boxed beef trade were reported by the USDA, showing prices and quantities traded for individual cuts.

This report is based on information provided by companies that agreed to
continue to participate in Livestock Mandatory Reporting on a voluntary basis.
USDA ESTIMATED BOXED BEEF CUT-OUT VALUES - as of 1:30pm
Based on negotiated prices and volume of boxed beef cuts delivered within 0-21
days and on average industry cutting yields. Values reflect U.S. dollars per
100 pounds.
Boxed beef cutout values were steady to firm on light to moderate demand and
offerings. Select and Choice chuck and round cuts were generally steady.
Select rib and loin cuts were steady to weak while Choice was firm. Beef trimmings
were higher on moderate demand and light offerings.
