Import Values for Australian and New Zealand Beef

DES MOINES - May 9/08 - SNS -- Report on import market values for beef

coming into the United States from New Zealand and Australia.

IMPORT BEEF TRADE

Compared to Last Week: Imported bull and cow meat steady to higher on
light offerings and moderate demand. Import offerings are still less
than sufficient to meet grinder demand. Import product, fueled by the
weak U.S. dollar, higher prices paid for domestic lean and the lack of
imported product is trading at record levels. Grinding operations
continue to look for alternative options to offset the higher priced
import market.
